At least you didn't sign up for a comparative literature class? *sigh* :(
Get away from it for a day or two and have someone else read over it who hasn't seen it before. When you come back to it don't read it all the way through, but look it over for organization and flow. Only after that should you get back into the wording. That's what works for me, at least.
No matter what, try and force yourself to write some everyday. EVERY. FUCKING. DAY.
Even if it's shit, just write it.
Papers take rounds and rounds of revisions so don't expect to nail it on your first draft.
Start with a framework/scaffold/skeleton. Add a line here, a paragraph there...get all your ideas down and *then* start trying to make it more cohesive.
And email me. I edit for a living. You get a free pass on the first manuscript :)
OMG you are my polar opposite! I WANT TO WRITE. I am frustrated at the bench tying to get sufficient data.
Some grad students are forced to write their own papers, others have their PI do it all for them. However, you will have to write you own thesis so your advisor is doing you a favor by properly preparing you to do this.
